Volunteer Opportunities – Austin
Code Chica, Cohort 4: Become an instructor, curriculum assistant, or guest speaker!
When: 8-week session held on the following Saturdays: Jan 18 + 25, Feb 1 + 8 + 15 + 22 + 29 & Mar 7
Time: 10:00am – 2:00pm
Where: 1023 Springdale Road, Building 9, Suite E (second floor), Austin, TX 78721
Join us for Cohort 4 and help girls in 8th and 12th grade gain knowledge about HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create their own website. This 8-week program is FREE, and upon completion of the program, students will receive a $75 stipend and a certificate outlining their accomplishments.
We are looking for all individuals to participate as coding instructors, guest speakers, and curriculum assistants. Basic experience with HTML, CSS, and Javascript is required. Advanced experience encouraged. As a volunteer, you will work directly with students to help problem solve, provide guidance, and assist in helping facilitate the lessons.

Club Latinitas: Become a club assistant!
Club Latinitas is a space where Latina youth, and girls of all backgrounds, come together and express themselves through multimedia projects. Club Latinitas, our longest-running program, takes place at select elementary and middle schools in the Austin Independent School District (AISD) and welcomes all girls in grades 3rd – 8th.
This program focuses on encouraging youth to build confidence, courage, and leadership skills through media and technology training. We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers that can dedicate at least one afternoon per week for the spring 2020 semester to meet with a club from January – May. Students and individuals interested in youth empowerment, media, tech, cultural and media literacy, and mentoring are encouraged to apply!

Start Up Chica: Multiple volunteer roles and times to choose from!
When: Saturday, February 20th, 2021
Time: 10:30pm to 5:00pm
Where: Virtual
Girls between 9-18 years old will spend the day exploring 21st-century technology. Local professionals will help lead demos and activities throughout the day to inspire career exploration across technology, creative, design, and business industry. At the end of the day the chicas will present their projects.
We are looking for volunteers to help as an event logistics assistant, mentor, or lunchtime career presenter!

Digital Parents: Become a tech assistant!
When: 8-week session held on the following Saturdays: Jan 18 + 25, Feb 1 + 8 + 15 + 22 + 29 & Mar 7
Time: 10:00am to 12:30pm
Where: 1023 Springdale Rd, Bldg 9E, Austin, TX 78721
Latinitas is offering a FREE, new series of workshops specially designed for parents to learn essential computer literacy-based concepts. Parents will use our office space and have access to a computer to learn and practice skills with guided assistance in English and Spanish. We’re looking for volunteers to help guide and support our parent participants.

Special Events & Tabling
Connecting with the community and the families we serve is valuable. We attend community events, art festivals, resource fairs, and more to provide additional information about Latinitas such as upcoming programs and volunteer opportunities. We seek volunteers that can manage our booth or information table at such events, and hand out flyers, monitor sign-up sheets, and connect with students, families, and professionals.

Professional Assistance
Latinitas welcomes professionals experienced in graphic design, web design, social media, translation (English/Spanish), photoshop, marketing, and finance to provide insight and knowledge. If interested in providing your expertise and applying your skills, please send your availability and profession to outreach@latinitasonline.org
