Latinitas offers certification programs for students allowing them to learn the basics of real-world skills such as website design, coding, journalism, and content creation. If you have a student that is interested in media and/or technology, Latinitas’s certification programs for teens are the perfect way to complement their education and allow them to learn new skills!

Code Chica

Code Chica is Latinitas’ 8-week virtual coding workshop for 8th – 12th grade students to gain knowledge about HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Students work together with instructors and guest speakers to learn the fundamentals of Javascript, CSS and website building to create their own website! Upon graduation, students earn an $80 stipend.

Code Chica ++

CodeChica++ is a course designed to teach Code Chica alumni about source control, writing tests, fixing bugs, and other web development fundamentals. Students work in teams to explore roles from the perspective of a Product Manager, a Designer and an Engineer. They learn how to create features in an existing application, SparkleHub, a place to sparkle others with kindness. Upon graduation, students present their features in a final showcase and earn a $90 stipend.

Code Chiquitas

Code Chiquitas is a virtual workshop for students 10-12 years old to learn the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, and game design. Students will create their own CSS artwork and animations, and their own mini-game. Upon graduation, they will earn a $50 stipend. This program is a pathway to Code Chica, where students will implement their artwork and game into a website portfolio.
