Volunteer Opportunities 

Looking for a great team-building event? Latinitas has lots of ways to help! Our staff can visit your team for an in-office volunteer activity and learning session, where volunteers can use their hands and hearts to support our students while they learn more about Latinitas and our mission! Or join us in our offices to help us prepare for one of our Chica Conferences or Camp Latinitas. Activities for both locations could be making inspirational snack packs for our students or preparing materials and decorations for our events!

Conferences

How about a day or half-day of rewarding volunteerism on a Saturday? Our Chica Conferences are one-day events that take place on Saturdays a few times a year. At our Startup Chica conference, for example, our students need mentors to facilitate their teams through the day as they create, develop and pitch a business idea to a panel of judges, like on Shark Tank! We also need volunteers for set-up, registration, survey and lunch assistance, etc. It’s an empowering day of inspiration perfect for individuals or small groups!

Like to party? Latinitas hosts several community-focused fundraising events throughout the year. Whether it’s a Pickleball Tournament, a Fashion Show, an Open-House/Happy Hour or a gala, we have opportunities for volunteers that have availability in the evenings. We need volunteers for set-up, registration, silent auction monitoring, ushers, and more! It’s a fun way to help out, do good, and have a great time, all at once!

Community Engagement

Do you like talking to strangers? Latinitas is always being invited to community events to talk about our mission and work. If you’d like to join us at the Latinitas table, we need people to help us take names for our newsletter, field new volunteer interest, and just talk about Latinitas to individuals that come by. Volunteers are accompanied by a trained Latinitas staff member, of course. These opportunities occur on evenings and weekends. No public speaking involved!

Camp Latinitas

How’s your time flexibility this summer? For 5 weeks during each summer from 9AM to 5PM, Latinitas hosts Camp Latinitas in our office in Central East Austin. Approximately 30 girls aged 9-14 join us for action-packed days of learning about Design, Engineering, Media, Architecture and other themes! As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside our program leaders, guiding students through week-long projects, and even chaperoning field trips. Your role as a mentor is crucial in helping students succeed and serving as a supportive teaching assistant. We also need volunteers to join us for shifts of 2 or 4 hours helping with monitoring students, collecting surveys, snack and lunch distribution, drop-off, pick-up, keeping the area tidy, etc. If you love kids, you’ll love being a volunteer at Camp Latinitas this summer!

Adult Digital Literacy

Did you know that Latinitas helps adults, too? Digital Literacy is one of the pillars of Latinitas, and we’re not fully helping our girls if we are not helping their community, too. Our Padres Digitales Program and Workforce Readiness Series help adults with basic computer skills as well as more advanced themes such as financial literacy and job-hunting best practices. If you’d like to assist our program leaders with their basic computer skills (email, documents, spreadsheets, password management) or resume building, mock interviews, etc. we’d love to have you!
