Future Chica Conference (7/18) Takes on COVID, Climate Change – the works!

Latinitas’ signature Spring conference: Future Chica is in its 3rd year in Austin this July. This one day event gathers girls and teens ages 9-18 to come together and use 21st century technologies to do someย  problem-solving on a global level.

The day is broken up into three parts: intros to new tech, career presentation roundtables at lunch and then an entrepreneurial project in the afternoon focused on a global problem.ย  Girls and teens will experience demonstrations in virtual reality, coding, robotics, 3D printing and even artificial intelligence and will meet leaders of color in tech during lunch. Using the U.N.’s list of sustainable goals – gender equity, clean water and ending human trafficking.

“Future Chica is a combination of what a lot of Latinitas does: instilling leadership in young girls, having them be at the helm of problem solving and also creating an atmosphere of collaborative work with mentors nearby who reflect the girls we serve not only in gender, but also culture.” explains Sylvia Butanda, Latinitas Deputy Executive Director.

Conference Schedule: Saturday July 18th, 10am to 3pm

Conference Location:ย Online

All conference questions can be sent to andrea@latinitasonline.org or call (512) 900-0304 between 9 am to 5 pm, Monday – Friday.
