Latinitas, a nonprofit that empowers all girls to innovate using media and technology, will host their Eco Chica conference on April 29, 2023, at Atlassian Austin.ย
At Eco Chica, students will spend the day learning the business skills needed to launch their own sustainable startup or product that identifies and solves community issues. As a team working alongside community mentors, students will come up with a creative solution to a problem, pitch the product to a group of judges, and exit with a passion for entrepreneurship.ย
โI’m so excited to kick-off this new conference and see what our students can develop,โ said Mia Gomez-Reyes, program coordinator at Latinitas. โFocusing on helping our planet and community has been very important to our students so we cannot wait to give them what theyโve been asking for.โ
Participants, ages 9-14, will have the opportunity to hear from real professionals in various media and technology fields, as well as up-close interaction with professionals who will be guiding the students through the fun and exciting process of developing a business idea. Everyone will have a chance to contribute and learn from others at this fun and collaborative day of innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.
โI am thrilled to participate in this year’s Eco Chica because it is an opportunity to connect with the future generation of sustainable entrepreneurs,โ said Alexandra Gyarfas director of marketing at Balcones Resources, INC. and Eco Chica Speaker. โI’m looking forward to sharing my experience and hopefully encouraging young Latinas to pursue their business ideas and positively impact their communities.โ
