Latinitas Welcomes a New Era

Dear Latinitas Supporters,

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that after an incredible and impactful 20 years; Latinitas is embarking on a new era of excellence. Latinitas is bringing new voices and minds to strengthen its ideals and values while working to make the organization one that measures success by improved economic opportunity outcomes in our target communities.ย

To help shepherd Latinas through this change, the Board of Directors has named Gabriela Kane Guardia, the Interim Executive Director. Gabriela is currently the Development Director for Latinitas. We are delighted that Gabriela has accepted to serve in this interim role, as she brings a wealth of knowledge, skills, and passion for the organizationโ€™s mission. In this period of transition, her understanding of Latinitasโ€™ operations and stakeholders is essential for serving effectively in this role.

About Gabriela:

โ€œI started volunteering with Latinitas in early 2021 to support their efforts commissioning a series of mosaic portraits to uplift women in Austin. I continued volunteering on the fundraising committee for a year until joining the team as the Development Director. As a STEAM advocate and a Latina, I was so excited to be part of an ecosystem that was putting the “A” in STEM education, recognizing elements of arts, culture, and creativity that are essential components to every industry. This mission is one dear to my heart, especially as Iโ€™ve witnessed my own younger sister grow in her confidence and coding skills through Latinitas. Iโ€™m eager to continue contributing to a mission that is so close to home. We have an immense opportunity to continue serving the Central Texas community with digital equity tools, career exploration, and educational programs that create self-sustaining families measured by improved economic opportunity outcomes.โ€

Latinitas will be searching for a new Executive Director, who will continue carrying out the organizationโ€™s mission, building on the efforts of the organizationโ€™s founders, Alicia Rascon and Laura Donnelly. Thank you to our founders for countless days, months, and years of dedication!

We appreciate the continued support from all our supporters and stakeholders as we emerge from our chrysalis into an exciting new chapter. Thank you for your commitment to Latinitas.ย

Latinitas would like to invite you to continue your support by attending our biggest annual fundraiser, Purple Party. This event will take place on Saturday, June 17, 2023; all proceeds will allow us to secure our programming, increase our reach and continue in this new era.
