AUSTIN (TX) — Program director, Sylvia Butanda, presented the VR Cine Chica Cohort project in Silicon Valley Wednesday, August 15 at the Mozilla Gigabit Community Fund Celebration. Mozilla awarded Latinitas with funding as part of its social initiative to support pilot tests for gigabit technologies to increase participation in tech innovation.
The VR Cine Cohort – a group of dedicated Latinitas – produced and directed “Latinx Culture in East Austin” and released the documentary earlier this year. The film spotlights the impact of gentrification and its effects on cultural preservation.
